First Day of School!
We decided to start our "first" day of school on Labor Day this year, because why not? Dad had off of work for the holiday, and was able to join in on the fun. He made us cinnamon rolls for breakfast, to celebrate our first day. As usual, we kicked off our first day with our family tradition of a scavenger hunt, with new school supplies hiding at the end. We also filled out our "first day of school" sheets that we do every year. I wasn't surprised to see that some things have stayed the same since last year! We are beginning our year with a unit study on American History, focusing on slavery, abolition, and the Civil War, inspired by Addy, the American Girl doll. Sweet Pea was thrilled to begin reading the first Addy book. We also jumped back into math, reading, and writing. I was very pleased to find that progress has been made, even through the summer.
