Life Skills: Restaurant Play

Pumpkin decided recently that she wanted to have a "restaurant" for dinner one night, with Dad and I as the customers. Sweet Pea decided to "work" at the restaurant, rather than be a customer. Pumpkin planned for her restaurant by independently creating a menu, using her cursive skills that she's been working on for school. She also created a shopping list for Dad to bring on his next shopping trip. Once the ingredients had been purchased, Pumpkin and Sweet Pea got to work. They served us drinks and appetizers, preparing everything themselves. For our main course, we could choose from several different styles of English muffins. I particularly enjoyed the pizza English muffin.  Not only did they practice a lot of kitchen skills, but they also gained some new perspectives on life. "Whew, now I know why we have to wait so long to get our food at restaurants!"
