I made something!

As some of you may have seen, my latest adventure for the summer has come in the form of arts and crafts.  I wanted to try something new, and I was inspired by a book that I had seen during the semester made for a professor's retirement party. So, I did a little research and set out to make a book similar to it. Here is my first attempt at a Coptic-stitched journal!

Here's the cover I made. It's for a friend who loves music and the color green, so I wanted to incorporate both. The cool thing about this cover is that it's made from salvaged mat board (I went to the craft store and asked for any mat board scraps they were throwing away. I got it for free!)

This is the finished stitching. I really like the way it looks!

Here's the inside cover. More music!
My mom, aunt, and grandma all share a shop on Etsy, which is a really great place to buy and sell handmade or vintage items. I made two more journals, and they are currently for sale on their Etsy shop, In Maude's Attic. Check out my journals and the other awesome things in their shop!

Also, I'm thinking of going green and using recycled banana fiber paper for the pages of future journals. Is it worth the investment? Does anyone have any other fun ideas? Comment below or vote in the poll on the right at the top of the page!
