Sleep Talking

In just a few days, we will be celebrating two years of marriage! One of the greatest things about marriage is that we’ve gotten to see each other in ways that we’ve never seen before. We see each other at our finest, our worst, and our funniest moments. When you are completely comfortable with your spouse, all sorts of hilarity ensues.

One of the funniest (and sometimes challenging) differences between us is our energy levels throughout the day. Judah is the most energetic morning person I’ve ever met, while I just can’t function in the morning. Conversly, I can’t stop going at night, and he just can’t stay awake. Because of this, we’ve had to learn to compromise. But we’ve also gotten to witness some hilarious sleep-talking. Here are some of my favorite examples.

Jane: I hate eggs. They’re disgusting. They squeak between my teeth.
Note: This was said while actually eating eggs for breakfast.

Judah: Here are some warm pants for you. I’m leaving them on the bed.
Jane: Pants.... I need pants...

Judah: I love you more than oranges and soap.

Judah: I was saving you from the people with the sword in real life so you wouldn’t be afraid of the people with the sword in the dream.

The funniest thing about these is that neither of us remember saying them. I'm not going to say anything about the fact that Judah is far more considerate when he's asleep than I am... Anyway, the ability to make each other laugh goes a long way in our marriage. And I’ve realized that no matter how tired I am, or how asleep I am, it’s wonderful to have someone to say “I love you” to every morning and night.

Last year, for our anniversary, Judah and I answered questions about our marriage asked by you, the readers. You can read about it here. So, this year, I’d like to do the same. Feel free to ask a question in the comments below or on facebook, and we will do our best to answer them next week!
