Houses and Vows: The Latest Crafts
I have a habit of obsessively working on a project, to the point of ignoring nearly everything else, until it’s finished. So I go through cycles of frantically, busily working on projects, getting stressed out about it, finishing it, and then wondering what to do next. So lately, I’ve been trying to slow myself down. Believe me, I have a list of craft projects to do, but I’m trying to pace myself and enjoy each project for what it is. It’s been a much more enjoyable experience. So today I’m going to share with you two projects that I’ve completed recently, and both were super fun to make. I don’t usually find myself with a paintbrush in my hand, so it was a nice little change from the sewing machine.
A while ago, my mom gave me these adorable little gnome houses, because she knows I love whimsical things. I needed a way to hang them without using nails (renter problems), so I headed outside in the spring before the leaves were out, snagged a few branches (I tried to choose ones that were already partially broken), and glued them into a picture frame. Side note: this is not a recent craft, but it does lead to one.
Anyway, I absolutely love them, and have them hanging in our office/craft room, and I decided that the room needed a little more whimsy. I had Judah cut me some little pieces of pallet wood, which we’ve been using a lot of lately.
And I made them into gnome houses!
Call it childish if you want, but I love them. Look at the tiny little toadstools!
But lest you think I’m too childish (not sure there is such a thing), here’s a more grown-up-ish craft.
I painted our wedding vows onto canvasses, and hung them in our bedroom. I used graphite paper to transfer the words onto the canvas, so it was much easier than I had anticipated. They were fun to make, and I think they turned out beautifully. I love to have a reminder of the choice and the commitment that we made to each other. Over two years later, our vows are just as important to us today as they were on our wedding day.

What a lovely lovely idea! I am super impressed and inspired!
