Summer is (Almost) Here

Summer doesn’t officially start for about another month, but now that I’m working in a public school, I can’t help but get caught up in the collective longing for summer, shared by students and staff alike. I have less than two weeks of school left, and with the hot weather and delicious cookouts we’ve already had, I’m ready.

Living in the suburbs, rather than just outside the city, we have a lot more opportunities and space to go outside. We’ve been gardening, walking, sitting on our swing, cooking out, and so on. It really feels like summer, and it hasn’t even started yet. Here are a few snippets from our Memorial Day weekend.

Needless to say, I haven’t been this excited about summer for quite some time. Here are some of my plans and goals for the summer:

  • improve my banjo playing skills
  • improve my piano playing skills
  • finish a baby quilt for a friend
  • read new books (I am very bad at picking out new books, so I’d love some recommendations, please!)
  • grow vegetables in our garden
  • cross stitch
  • go on some awesome weekend trips
  • blog more consistently
  • become a better photographer
What are your goals for the summer?
