Handicrafts: Origami

 Pumpkin decided to teach herself origami using some hand-me-down instructions and papers that we were given. I have not taught her any origami myself, but she has figured it out herself. One of the things I've realized about homeschooling over the past year is that one of the best teaching tools is trying to learn a new skill myself. I think it does wonders for children to see their parents tackle a new skill, and watch the process of researching, experimenting, and persevering when things get tough. Not only has she learned how to do origami, but more importantly, she has learned how to teach herself a new skill. I'm very proud of her, but honestly, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with 24 origami cicadas.
