It Always Works Out
Last week, I did not write a blog post because I failed to realize that
it was Wednesday. I usually write on Wednesday, as you may have noticed.
But last week, Wednesday rolled on by, I thought it was Tuesday. After
that, I didnāt have the heart to write. It was a bit of a low point for
me. Since we moved here, weāve been living in limbo, staying in
someoneās āin-law suiteā in their basement (which actually turned out to
be a real apartment - more about that later), with nearly ALL of our
stuff in storage until we found a permanent place. And I havenāt had a
job. So, Iāve been stuck in an apartment that isnāt mine, without any of
my stuff, and nothing to do. Fortunately, I have family and a few
friends in the area that I could spend some time with. But I've also spent a
fair amount of time at home alone, freaking out about life. You know,
things like, āWeāre never going to find an apartment! Iām never going to
find a job!ā I wasnāt sleeping well, and I became so disconnected that I
actually lost track of what day it was.
But I should have known better.
It always works out.
When we took a leap of faith, almost 3 years ago, and moved to Rhode Island with nothing, it worked out. When we were barely scraping by, it worked out. When I lost jobs that were quickly replaced with new ones, it worked out.
Two things happened in the last few days that caused me to realize, once again, that this is going to work out. This is probably the real reason youāre reading this post, so Iāll get on with it.
1). We found a place to live! And it turns out to be the place weāre staying in right now! When I heard that this place was an in-law suite, I was picturing something much smaller. But itās actually quite spacious, and the kitchen is a thousand times better than our last kitchen (which makes us happy!). Our kind friends who were helping us out by letting us stay here wanted to rent it out, and we wanted a place to live. And the longer we stayed here, the more it felt like home. This weekend, we are helping them move their furniture out, and on Monday, our trailer is arriving and we can finally unpack!! Shameless plug: if you live in the area, and youāre feelinā strong, come to our house on Monday and help us unload the trailer. I will feed you. Ok, anyway, my point is that it all worked out. Also, did I mention that this apartment is in exactly the location that we wanted? And look at the gorgeous views right around the corner!
2) I got a job! Today, actually. After living here for about a week or so, I got an interview with the school districtās special education department. I really wanted this job, because it seemed really interesting, it looks similar to what I had previously been doing, and I hate job hunting. Itās actually the only job I applied to. Several weeks passed by, and I gave up hope. Yesterday, actually. And today, they called me to offer me a position! I said yes, in case you were wondering. So, I will be working at an elementary school in an autistic support classroom, with kindergarteners and first graders. And I am SUPER excited. See? I told you everything works out!

Letās pretend that I didnāt spend the last few weeks freaking out about life, ok? =)
