Minecraft Camp
During the summer, we like to do some fun, themed "camps" just to keep our brains in gear. This week, we did a Minecraft themed camp. I found some Minecraft themed worksheets online for math and reading/writing, and the girls did these worksheets each day of the week.
At the beginning of the week, we read some books about biomes. We then explored our Minecraft worlds and identified the different biomes that we had read about, comparing the Minecraft biome to real-life biomes.
Here is Pumpkin exploring a tundra biome. She noted that it had flowers in it, whereas real-life tundras only have flowers during a very brief summer period.
Here, Sweet Pea is comparing a Minecraft savanna with the real-life savanna depicted in our library book.
Later in the week, we researched different types of land forms and bodies of water. The girls each chose a different land form or body of water to create in Minecraft.
We ended the week by learning about mapping, and the girls each drew a map of their creations in Minecraft.
