Bhajo Naam

I love Jesus, and I love learning about other cultures, so I enjoy when these two things collide. I love the way Jesus is translatable to all languages, cultures, and people groups. Not just the name "Jesus," but Jesus Himself.

People often talk about how wonderful it will be in heaven when we can worship together with every tribe, every tongue, and every nation. But why not now? Why not join in with our brothers and sisters around the world and explore the way they worship Jesus?

Below is a band called Aradhna, which means "adoration" in Hindi. As you may have guessed, they worship in an Indian style. They sing what are called "bhajans," which are songs of devotion born out of the ancient Bhakti tradition, which focuses on loving devotion and complete surrender to God. Over the past few centuries, more and more bhajans have been written about Yeshu.

Here is the English translation to the chorus:
Sing His name, chant His name,
The beautiful name, Jesus' name.
Morning and evening together,
All bring their devotion, singing Jesus' name.

Just for the record, I love Aradhna, in case you need any Christmas present ideas.

  1. So Cool! I'll have to pass this on to my friend, April. Her wedding was a mix of things, but the strongest cultural influence was Indian. She would love this group!
