Two Days in the Life of Jane
Now that I am back at school, I wanted to give you all a taste of what my schedule is like. This is partly for your benefit, and partly for mine. I’m hoping that this helps me to focus on the good parts, but also think of the not-so-good parts with a pinch of humor. The reason I am sharing two days, rather than one, is because my schedule is very different depending on the day. Now, most of my days are not exactly like these, but this will give you a good idea of what I’ve been up to.
Monday
9:00AM: Wake up, shower, eat breakfast
10:00AM: Homework!
11:00AM: Class
12:00PM: Lunch
1:00-2:30PM: Do some work at the Agape Center for Mission Awareness Week; avert a crisis
2:30-3:00PM: Get a bit of reading in
3:00-5:00PM: Have company over for tea to catch up on things and talk about my experiences in China
5:00-7:00PM: Read like a maniac, knowing that I’m not going to finish all of my reading assignments for all of my classes tomorrow; listen to my apartment-mate make dinner while reading; uh oh, something’s wrong with the oven, because the chicken’s been in there for 45 minutes and it’s still raw... thank goodness for left-over tacos!
7:00-8:30PM: Go to women’s ensemble and sing, ignoring the fact that I probably sound awful due to some lovely nasal and sinus congestion
8:45PM: Return to the apartment and do homework like a mad woman
11:42PM: Submit an assignment online
11:45PM: Search for a research article
12:00AM: Task complete; begin readying myself for bed
12:30AM: Bed time (finally); toss and turn and blow my nose repeatedly because I couldn’t take any cold medicine (if I had taken nighttime medicine, I wouldn’t have woken up on time in the morning; if I had taken non-drowsy medicine, it would have kept me awake)
12:45ish and on PM: Listen to the people in the apartment above me pee and flush their toilet
Tuesday
8:00AM: Attempt to wake up, hit snooze button multiple times, shower
8:45AM: Eat breakfast while reading a research article on male reproductive control of women as a form of intimate partner abuse (great breakfast reading... oh, the joys of being a social work major...)
9:30AM: Go to chapel
10:15AM: Go back to the apartment and continue reading11:50AM: Print out an assignment; leave hurriedly; walk rapidly all the way across campus because class starts in 5 minutes and it takes almost 10 minutes to get there
11:58AM: Arrive to class late, breathing rather heavily and thinking that maybe going to the gym might not be such a bad idea
11:58AM-4:00PM: Various classes
4:00PM: Go back to the apartment and begin reading for my night class; listen to apartment-mate make dinner; uh oh, it’s not ready....
6:15PM: Go to night class (hungry)
8:15PM: Get out of class early and return to apartment; eat some delicious beef pot pie
9:30PM: Do homework for tomorrow
10:30PM: Have apartment-mate help me pick out clothes tomorrow, for my first day at my internship; go through her closet; decide on wearing her clothes; she decides on wearing my clothes; that’s just what we do
11:00PM (I think?): Get ready for bed; take some night time cold medicine =)
11:15PM (I think): Go to bed11:30 and on PM: Listen to people in the apartment above me pee and flush their toilet
