My Blue Wish

Let me start off by confessing that this idea is not original. I am borrowing this idea from a friend of mine, who I went to China with. Nevertheless, I think it is an excellent idea, because I love China. I miss it and have been doing a lot of thinking about it lately. Thus, it will do my heart good to blog about it.

My trip to China was not about sight-seeing or experiencing a different culture. It was not about my own personal growth (although that is a wonderful bonus). It was not about job experience or resume-building. It was about people. It was about my students. So, for the next few weeks, that is what my blog will be about. Most of my students, although dying to do otherwise, will probably never get out of small-town Longde. The world will probably never know they exist. So I’m going to tell their stories. Well, at least the bits and pieces that I know of.

I will start by introducing my class as a whole. Our class name was “Blue Wish.”

We had our own class chant, that went something like this: “We’re number one! We’re number one! Gooooo Blue Wish!”

On average, I had about 16 students (it changed frequently). They ranged in age from 16 to 20 years old, and yes, that is as old as me.

My girls were sweethearts.

And my boys were nuts.

And they are all precious to me. So, over the next few weeks, each post will be about one specific student, in no particular order. I hope you enjoy their stories and can learn a bit from them.
