Christmas Crafts 2014

Yes, I know it’s February. It’s a little late to be showing you the crafts I made as Christmas gifts. But I always share my crafts, so I can’t skip out this time. It’s just been really busy around here the last few months.

Let me preface by telling you about my new favorite blog, Rage Against the Minivan. This blogger can make me laugh and cry in the same post. She’s really open about what goes on in her life, and doesn’t try to hide the mess. It’s great. Anyway, her post on lifestyle blogs, while making me laugh, really resonated with me. If you are a blogger, click the link. It’s seriously worth the read. I often stress myself out over trying to create a beautiful blog, with artful pictures for each post. But let’s be honest. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Maybe some people do. I am not one of them. I love being able to take nice pictures, I really do. But when you’ve got a full time job (let’s not talk about the fact that I’m unemployed right now) and a million and one other responsibilities, it’s just not always possible. Many times, I finish whatever project I’m working on late at night, and it needs to be wrapped up or packaged and mailed right away. Sorry, no time for “sunkissed lighting.” Step-by-step DIY pictures? Nope. And that’s ok. I don’t need you all to think that my life is perfect and sunkissed all the time. It can be busy and messy (and a whole lot of fun), and that’s ok.

So without further ado, here are my non-exciting pictures of the gifts I made for Christmas!

For my best friend. Yes, she is musical. Yes, she loves green. I had a lot of fun with canvas this year. I made a similar craft a few months prior for our own house. Do not attempt this without graphite paper. If you want to transfer words to canvas, graphite paper is your friend. Again, sorry there’s no DIY instructions. You can ask if you need help. Or Google it. Or commission me to make it for you.

For one of my six brothers-in-law. This is the “walking song” from Lord of the Rings, a favorite of mine (and his).

For another brother-in-law. It’s from the Bible, it’s about singing, it’s in Spanish, and it’s red. I thought it was fitting.

This is NOT canvas. Quilting is my latest craft obsession, and this one is for my mother-in-law, because she loves snowmen. I realized a few minutes ago that I never actually took a picture of the finished project, so this is just the top of the quilt/table runner.

So there you have it, folks! My artfully-staged, magazine-quality blog that makes you jealous of my life. ;)
