Three Years Together
Before you read any further, let me make something clear. If you are not interested in a soppy blog post about what my marriage has been like for the past year, turn back now. If you are interested, then read on, my friend.
In just a few days, Judah and I will have been married for three years. Sometimes it’s been an adventure, and sometimes it’s been mundane. Sometimes it’s really difficult, and sometimes it’s just a big celebration. Maybe that’s just because we’re two humans figuring out how to be human together. All I know is that every day of the past three years has been so worth it.
Here is just a small portion of what our lives have been like this past year. (Disclaimer: most of these photos were taken with my phone, so the quality’s not that great. Sorry.)
We enjoyed time together outside, despite my poor frisbee skills…
This happened. I’ll spare you the picture of the gross, stitched-up incision on my neck. But hey, no more tumor!
During my recovery from my surgery, Judah put a gong by my bedside so I could get his attention when I needed it, since it was very difficult for me to talk. When I wasn’t sleeping or zoning out, I really appreciated his tireless care for me.
We hosted our first Thanksgiving with my family... in our tiny kitchen. Judah makes an awesome turkey, though.
Family night, game night, whatever you want to call it. If there’s hot cocoa, I’m there.
We moved, not just several miles, but across several states. We also had many moments of frustration and laughter at our different packing styles. I'm grateful to have someone who can get me beyond my meticulous, detail-obsessed packing, and get our entire house quickly, efficiently, and securely packed into a trailer.
Just for kicks, this was the last meal in our house. We know how to live it up.
We’ve experienced the joy of being an auntie and uncle.
Along those lines, we hosted our first Easter egg hunt.
We also started gardening. Ok, so we didn’t grow these flowers ourselves. They were already here, but I still thought they were really pretty.
However, we DID plant this garden. Surprisingly, we’ve been pretty successful so far, despite being clueless about gardening, and have already enjoyed several salads from our garden.
We’ve also been enjoying the beautiful PA countryside on our bikes.
I can’t wait to see what the next year brings us!
Happy anniversary, Judah!
