Co-op: Rising Sun Acres

 With our co-op, we went on a field trip to Rising Sun Acres, a small organic farm. We've visited quite a few times, as we know the owner, but it is always a pleasure to visit.

We received a tour of the farm, and learned about some of the equipment used on the farm. The kids always enjoy visiting the goats and chickens on the farm. We got to sample a few of the crops, and help with some of the harvesting. The kids really enjoyed harvesting some carrots.

The carrot greens held a lovely surprise for us: swallowtail caterpillars! There were enough for every family to take one home. Ours is currently in its chrysalis, and at this point, will likely overwinter in our butterfly habitat. We look forward to seeing it emerge in the spring!
