What does it mean?

Most of you probably know that Judah and I have started an Etsy shop {if you don’t know, hop on over to the “shop” section of my blog, and you can see some of it}. And you’ve also probably noticed that my blog looks a little different. And most of you are probably wondering, “What the heck is a well of bravery?”

Well, I’ll tell you.

Judah and I thought long and hard about a name for our shop (and my blog). We wanted something meaningful, but not too cheesy. We bounced a lot of ideas off of each other (and off of friends), and rejected... well, all but one. Most of our ideas came from songs, books, our Bible readings, and anything else we came across. This particular name was loosely based off a song by The Vespers.

For us, the idea of bravery or courage seemed very fitting for our lives right now. Life is very uncertain, and sometimes it’s downright frightening. There’s no shame in being afraid, however. It happens to everyone. I don’t think I’ve ever met a single person who wasn’t afraid of anything.  What matters is what we do with that fear. There have been many times throughout my life where I’ve let my fear (of the monsters in my closet, of spiders, of strangers, of not fitting in, of losing someone important, etc) paralyze me. It can take a lot of courage to face these things. Sometimes, each day takes more courage than we think we have.

That’s why it’s important for me to have a source for my courage. {Do you get where this is going now?} The Well of Bravery serves as a constant reminder to me of Who my source of courage is. When I remember, it helps me to be just a little stronger, and I am able to face the many uncertainties in my life without {too much} fear.

So, does that mean this blog is going to be filled with stories of how Judah and I courageously overcame our fears and did heroic deeds to save the planet? No, not quite. I’ll just share little bits of our life together. But my goal is to be honest and transparent in our struggles, fears, and triumphs. I’m hoping that through our lives, maybe you can learn to be a little braver, too!

But maybe that’s getting a little ambitious. ;)
