Field Trips: Farms Galore!

Rather than one post dedicated to each farm field trip we've done this year, I figured I'd compile them all into one. Sweet Pea is very interested in farming, so it was great for us to visit a variety of farms so she could decided which kind of farm she wants to have when she's a grown up.

First off was Apple Valley Creamery. We get our milk delivered from them every other week, so it was really fun to see what happens behind the scenes. We saw the cows, calves, the walk-in refrigerator, the milking station, and even the truck that Mr. Mike was getting ready to drive to our house the following day!

Next up was Strites Orchard, which we visit frequently, but this time we got a behind-the-scenes tour! We learned about harvesting apples, making cider, and how to store apples.

Next was Paulus Farm Park, which we have visited several times, but it always a fun visit!

In October, we visited our friend Ms. Kirsten at Rising Sun Acres with our co-op. This was probably our most hands-on trip, as we got to help with the morning chores and do some actual harvesting! It was also probably the favorite farm trip. Did I mention the baby goats??

In December, we visited Showers Christmas Tree Farm, which apparently I didn't take many pictures of. I learned a lot, but Sweet Pea decided she wasn't interested in Christmas tree farming.
