This week, we drove out to Philadelphia to visit the Please Touch Museum with the girls' uncle. Honestly, I was worried that the girls would be too old for it and get bored, and we wouldn't spend much time there, but they had a blast and could have stayed a lot longer. There is so much to do at this museum and I only got pictures of a portion of the exhibits. First, we enjoyed the water play area, followed by an area filled with giant, foam building blocks.
Later, we went to the city area, where the girls ran their own ice cream stand, visited the gas station, played in a life-size city bus, and more.
Perhaps my favorite area was the India exhibit, which is temporary, so I'm glad we were able to see it. We learned all about Indian food, culture, music, language, and more. It made me hungry for Indian food, and you better believe I ordered the tandoori chicken naan sandwich at the cafe for lunch. Good marketing!
We also enjoyed the space room, which was off the beaten path, and thus much less overstimulating. It was a welcome break from the noise of the rest of the museum. The girls really enjoyed launching little foam rockets.
After lunch, we headed to the lower level and explored the Alice in Wonderland exhibit. Here, Pumpkin is painting the roses red, and feels curious about reading the book, so she understands why we were painting the roses red.
Lastly, we visited the Healthy Community exhibit, which was very popular with the girls, and with lots of other kids, and for good reasons! There was a bakery, restaurant with commercial kitchen, pizza shop, and grocery store, all kid sized and all pretend! We could have easily spent more time here, but the museum was closing, and we had a long trek back home, anyway. This exhibit was sponsored by Giant, our local grocery store chain, and it was really fun to see familiar, realistic products.
